Sree Narayana Vidya Mandir Senior Secondary School, Talap, Kannur-2 affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi is managed by Sree Bhakthi Samvardhini Yogam, an organization dedicated to the ideals of Sree Narayana Guru. The Institution aims at a comprehensive development of the child with accent on mental, moral and physical well being. In starting the school, the founders had been inspired by the tenet of the Guru. “Education for the liberation of the Individual” . The institution strives to mould the child into a healthy individual imbued with high moral and ethical values and aimed at the three fold development achieved through the head, the heart and the hand. The Vidya Mandir was founded in October, 1980. It was upgraded as a Senior Secondary school in 1992, the first batch of pupils of XII Standard appeared for the All India Senior School Certificate Examination in March 1994.    The institution with a strength of 2400 students, in a little over a decade has steadily grown in stature producing outstanding results both in scholastic as well as non scholastic areas of learning and is one of the leading institutions in this part of the state of Kerala. A team of trained and highly qualified teachers are engaged in guiding the children with a view to developing their personality. Apart from the academic ventures, the school lays a lot of emphasis on a variety of co-curricular and extra- curricular activities to empower children to build competencies and meet the evolving challenges of life.  
Sree Narayana Guru
 Sree Narayana Guru was a Saint, Sage, Philosopher and Social Reformer of Kerala. The Guru was born in 1854 in the village of Chempazhanthi near Thiruvananthapuram in an Ezhava family at a time when people from backward communities faced a lot of social injustices in the caste ridden Kerala society.                                                       
 Sree Bhakthi Samvardhini Yogam was formed under the Divine Presence and Blessings of the great Saint Sree Narayana Guru during his visit to Kannur in 1907. The Yogam was initially named Bhagaval Bhakthi Prathibha Yogam which was in 1915 renamed Sree Bhakthi Samvardhini Yogam. After establishing the Yogam, Gurudevan laid the foundation of Sree Sundareshwara Temple in 1909 and consecrated the idol at the temple on 11th April 1916.                                             
Sree Bhakthi Samvardhini Yogam upholds the Guru’s vision that a temple should enrich the people both spiritually and culturally, hence the Yogam right from its inception has been in the service of humanity and is involved in a variety of spiritual, socio- economic and educational activities to uplift and integrate the backward segments among the Hindus and bring about physical, spiritual and cultural progress by providing the right leadership. The objectives of starting the Yogam were: Adhering to the ideals of the Guru, the organization has effortlessly endeavored in establishing educational institutions to spread the rays of knowledge to whither away the darkness of ignorance among the masses. The Yogam is managing three educational institutions, Sree Narayana Vidya Mandir Senior Secondary School, Sree Narayana ITC and Sree Narayana Guru College of Engineering and Technology, Women’s Hostel and has been offering scholarships, financial aid and endowment to deserving students to realize their dreams. The Yogam which celebrated its centenary has been able to carve a niche of its own as a pioneer in the fields of Social,  Spiritual and Educational services in Kannur inspired by the Guru’s message ‘Educate that you may be Strong, Organize that you may be strong, Industrialize that your financial status may improve’
